News reports of Christians fleeing ISIS persecution are a daily occurrence. While these stories are horrifying, what is even more disturbing is the silence of President Obama and people of faith who should be speaking out against these atrocities.
In 2014, the Obama Administration authorized refugee status for 30,000 Syrian Muslims. Thousands of Christians in the Middle East, Africa and other countries are enduring unspeakable horrors and driven from their homes by ISIS and other terrorist groups. Men, women and children are being slaughtered simply because of their faith. Yet, there is deadly silence from President Obama about their plight. He has not offered refugee status to suffering Christians who have lived in their homelands for centuries. Why does mercy shown to Syrian Muslims not apply to persecuted Christians?
In addition, the Church in America has remained silent. This silence is deadly and unconscionable. There are few Christian leaders and denominations who have spoken out against the slaughter of their brothers and sisters. More importantly, why is the church not opening its doors by offering refuge that the government refuses to provide? Who will speak and action their behalf if not the leaders and clergy who represent Jesus Christ?
We have over 100 sanctuary cities that protect illegal aliens from deportation. Where is the sanctuary in our country for those dying for their faith by refusing to convert to Islam?
