America the beautiful

Richard Miller

America the beautiful, home of the brave, land of the free!

This is the America that I love. Unfortunately this is not the America of today. In the early summer of 2008 I awoke from a slumber of ignorant bliss. Not knowing, not caring to an extent, caught up with MY life and all that I believed was important. Over 3 years later and I am wide eyed, aware, disgusted, amazed, concerned, and overall perplexed at the state of my great country.

How in the world did we get here? What has happened to our society? How did our government arrive at such a horrendous state of economic failure, legislative failure and overall corruption? When did the values of what made America so fantastically great become the enemy of our society?

When did socialism become the norm and capitalism the great adversary...?  I thought I was aware and knew what was happening in this great country…I was wrong!  Since that time I have spent practically every waking hour productive as possible to educate, inform, share resources, equip patriots, encourage and enlighten as many Americans as humanly possible. In the interim, I have spent an enormous amount of time educating myself. There is a saying “Teacher, teach thyself”.

If we are not educated we cannot expect to teach or inform others accurately. I started this blog as an outlet or opportunity to speak my mind and share with you some truths, inspirations, history and reminders about why Americans are the greatest people in the land …WE are  America! “We the people” This is why I named this blog Friends of Liberty.

I want this to be a place where we stay on course, reminded of what is important in this movement and why we must remain dedicated to the principles of Liberty, Freedom, and this great American Awakening that has become known as the Tea Party Movement.

Please feel free to share my blog with others. Feel free to comment. I encourage you to write and share from a common place of patriotism and encouragement that I believe this nation is craving; they just may not realize that yet.

Ultimately, this blog is about winning our country back and rising up out of the ashes by information, education, dialogue, facts, and elections.

We are the people rising up and standing shoulder to shoulder with liberty, justice and freedom, America! Are you with us?

Together” WE THE PEOPLE” make or break what we are! So if you are also interested in speak your mind about whats going on in our country.. send me your Gmail address and I will send you your sign on to the blog.

YOUR FRIEND IN LIBERTY
Richard Miller

In August of 1987, a new pro-life concept was born. Mr. Joseph Mortimer, a small business owner from Feasterville, PA, founded Voices for the Unborn with the idea of not just using the media, but being a media outlet for the pro-life movement. It started out as a half-hour radio program, taped in the upstairs room of Joe's jewelry store. The show was broadcast throughout the Delaware Valley on several different radio stations.
The following August, Voices for the Unborn Newspaper was born. It was circulated in the Philadelphia, PA area, carrying local as well as national pro-life information. The paper soon went national (mailed to 40 States) and we even had international subscriptions in eleven foreign countries. In 1989, the first Voices for the Unborn TV program aired.
My personal involvement in the pro-life movement started in 1980 when I read in our church bulletin that a prayer rally was being held at an abortion center near me. I was shocked and horrified to learn that unborn babies were being killed in my own neighborhood!

That following Saturday, my husband and I took our four young children, ages 4 months to 6 years old to the center to protest and pray. (I held our 4-month old son while pushing our 17-month old son in a coach, praying; as my husband chased after our almost 3-year son and 6 year old daughter). We were lead in prayer by the late Father Joseph Griffin, who also acted as the liaison between our group and the civil affairs officers who were there to enforce an ‘injunction’, something I have never heard of before.

I began going every Saturday morning after that to pray for those babies killed by abortion as well as for their mothers. Several weeks into our ‘prayer vigil’, I saw a young woman looking out a window of the top floor at us.  Someone came up to me and said, “there’s one of them now.” Thinking we were just there to pray and give witness, I was so shocked that my knees gave out from under me as I realized that babies were being killed while we were praying outside. It was then my long-term commitment to the pro-life movement began.

I have been involved in every part of the movement over the years, (even creating a few along the way) some of which are: praying and giving witness outside of abortion centers; sidewalk counseling and hotline counseling;  post abortion counseling;  being part of the Rescue Movement; opening homes for women in crisis pregnancies;  being interviewed by local TV & radio; and finally being a part of the media myself with my involvement with the Voices for the Unborn radio program and newspaper.

Mr. Mortimer passed in the summer of 2011; however his legacy lives on in this new media outlet – blogging. We all know that social media is the way to reach people today, especially the younger generation.
My hopes are to have people blog here or summit pro-life and pro-family articles for blogging to this site. I will then post them to several social media sites to get the largest audience we can, and hope others will do the same.
